Atti pathil/Atti pathiri/ Veethi pathil (Layer rotti)


It is layered rice roti made with biriyani rice and coconut milk. It is another tasty Malabar dish. My mother used to make this and i love to eat this with pepper chicken.You can have this with any curries.   
 


Ingredients

Kaima rice/ jeera rice/ any biriyani rice                                       : 2 cup

Cooked par boiled rice                                                                   : 2 tbsp

Coconut milk                                                                                   :  1 cup

Shallot                                                                                            : 8

Cumin seed                                                                                     : 2 tsp

Salt to taste

Ghee/ oil                                                                                         : 1 tbsp

 

Preparation

  1. Wash and soak rice for 4- 6 hour

  2. Grind it with cooked rice (leftover rice ), shallot, cumin seed, seed and coconut milk. Batter should be in dropping consistency

  3. You can add water if it is too thick

  4. Heat steam pot

  5. Take a round casting tray and spread ghee or oil on it

  6. Pour one laddle of batter in tray and place in steam pot

  7. Close the lid and cook for 3-4 minute

  8. Open the lid and spread ½ tsp of ghee/oil on it

  9. Then again add one laddle of batter and keep for 3minute more

  10. Then spread ghee/oil  and repeat till it cover tray

  11. Finally cook for 10-15minute

  12. Cut it into small pieces and serve with your favourite curry
